Character's name: Dominique Ampria
Nicknames: Ampria, Dom, Dommy, Nicki
Species: Witch
Gender: Female
Age and birthdate: 264 years old, born September 30, 1586
Physical appearance: Dominique, or Queen Ampria as she is often referred to as, has a decidedly firm appearance. Her hair is short, layered, and a myriad of browns and reds. Her nose is a dominant feature, though that is not to say that it is large. It is simply strait, and the first thing the eyes catch before landing on her doe-brown gaze. She has dark eyebrows and mocha skin, and long black lashes that add a feminine touch to a not so feminine person. She is tall, extremely well-muscled, and impossibly direct in every sense of the word. Often times she wears a look that clearly states that her mind is elsewhere, though this is a common mistake. Dominique Ampria is very invested in the affairs around her, honed in on every nuance. She rarely gives a full smile, and instead wears a lopsided grin when things amuse her. Her life is dark, and so is she.
Special abilities: Dominique can read people like a book. She listens carefully, so things rarely get by her. She's also great at putting two and two together, and has something of a sixth sense regarding people. It's not uncommon for her to claim that a certain "gut feeling" is governing her actions. However, being secretly unstable and unsure, sometimes when she is around Tantomile Rush, she is not only unable to tell what is going on inside the head of the impossible blonde, but likewise unable to hide her own feelings and thoughts.
Likes: Dominique demands honesty from those around her, as well as respect and involvement. However, not many people can live up to all of her expectations, so when somebody does, she appreciates it very much. She also has a fondness for red meat, and will occasionally indulge in bear , though not of the polar kind.
Dislikes:She finds liars to be intolerable at best, and also despises laziness. Her goal is to get the job done, and those that encumber her immediately become enemies. She also dislikes those with water Dependant daemons because she deems them flighty. She does not partake in the consumption of sweets, unless forced by protocol or politeness.
Fears: Dominique is afraid of failure, above all else. Often times the monsters that she battles reside within her own heart and past, so she fights them in her sleep. Because of this, she loathes dreams and tries to make concoctions to erase them, or at least put them on hold. Nighttime is hard for her, because when she is left to her thoughts, she is extremely troubled. It is rumored that this is the reason she insists on having a trusted servant or friend sleep nearby at all times.
Interests: Outside of her line of duty and commitment, Dominique has always secretly had a passion for music. She hums and whistles when she thinks she is alone, and sings when she is lonely or afraid. She believes that song is the catalyst for bravery and strength.
Personality: Dominique is a hard person to touch, emotionally. She loves other people and has an innate desire to help them, but never helps herself. In fact, those that attempt to see more deeply into her are always turned away. Still, though she tries to keep up walls and shields, Dominique Ampria is a very loving creature. She has a fantastic sense of morals and will not back down when defending things that she believes are right. Those that know her usually develop extreme, obsessive ties to her, and follow her without question. She is a persuasive leader and directs her people gently, whenever possible. She is hardly afraid of battle and war, and values those around her that share her passion for defending the innocent. Her sense of humor is dark but still intact, even after all of the things that she has lived through. Nobody controls her except herself, which sometimes makes her feel isolated. Still, she'd rather be on a pedestal that under somebody's thumb.
Daemon's name: Mankustrap
Species: Robin
Gender: Male
Appearance: Nothing about Mank is particularly out of the ordinary for a robin. He has a soft, almost furry looking coat of feathers, light dusty brown and not at all uncommon. His chest is a bright crimson red, and his small beak is sharp and yellow. Little beady black eyes blink often, and his voice is a high, boyish tenor. Always in good spirits, it often surprises most to find that he belongs to the dark, serious Dominique. Strangely, Mank is missing a toe, though his counterpart is not. Many believe that this physical deformity of her daemon implies an emotional or soul-concerned brokenness.
Personality: Mank is often playful and chatty, chirruping happily whenever he and Dominique are on the move. Unlike his companion, it is no secret that this bubbly fellow likes to sing. He knows many an Irish tune, as well as plenty other types of song: Sometimes he even engages those around him in friendly little games of tongue twisters! Not surprisingly, Mankustrap is very popular with the children, who couldn't imagine a more exciting friend to play with. On a more heavier side, Mank can switch from playful to serious in a heartbeat. He is highly intelligent and understanding, and just like Dominique, can often see strait through people. Lies don't fly by Mank very easily.
Family lineage: Dominique's blood line is nearly pure, though there is a family secret involving an awful lot of rum, a handsome human, and a bit of bad judgment. She grew up as a regular class citizen of Witch society with no special treatments or expectations, besides the ones that her parents inbred in her.
History: Dominique Ampria was raised to be strong and unrelenting by both parents, and learned her lessons well. She had a deep love for her small, three person family, and showed it through unshakable loyalty and affection. She smiled often as a child, and would visit the cloud pine forest with her father at dark, when most others were home at rest.
When Mankustrap began switching less, and Dominique had begun to look very much like a grown woman, tragedy struck. Her parents were called out on a mission, which would send them deep into the north. They were part of a small band of protectors for Queen Ramile, and though Dominique knew little about this land of barren ice and cold, she was of the understanding that her parents might not make a return journey. Being away from them was awful enough, just as bad because she had pleaded to assist them in their duties and had been forcibly denied. Then, the news came that Queen Ramile had been captured and likely tortured, and Dominique had known then that her parents were dead.
Before Mankustrap had fully settled, the next stage of her life set in. A Witch girl who called herself Nova braved the wintry North with a group of equally juvenile helpers, and Dominique felt more betrayed than ever, being uninvited to join the cause. At the time, she had been left in the care of a withered old male Witch by the name of Togarth, and he had insisted that she was much too smart and unique to take such risks. All she felt was helplessness at Togarth's "assurances", that she would not be needed there, but here, where her apparent appearance of calm purpose was a relief to many. Behind his back, however, Dominique became close with a Witch named Tantomile Rush, who was a friend to Arethria and privy to certain details of the war in the North.
Years passed before Nova returned, alone and hardened from her experiences. She had gone into the cold world as something of a child but had come back a warrior, and Dominique was left in the stifling confines of society. Arethria was hailed as future Queen, and Tantomile, (who grew to be Dominique's only real friend), looked happier then ever. It was another jolt at the coronation ceremony a few months later to be approached by an ice-cold Tantomile, who had proceeded in a hollow voice to explain that Nova was unable to take the position of Clan Leader, and that Dominique was the chosen successor.
Dominique refused, at first. She did not enjoy the thought of being in charge of so many people, and to top it off, Mank was still unsettled. Who would want to be led by someone so uncertain? But Tantomile Rush had insisted, explaining that Nova's orders were to appoint the most capable leader available. Tantomile, who was very persuasive as it was with females, struck a chord in Dominique's heart. It was obvious to the parent-less Witch that Tantomile had been very hurt by the leave of her friend Arethria, but even more determined to carry out the plans they had made together. So, Dominique had agreed.
From there, everything was messy. Various other candidates to the throne fought viciously, using all the political finesse they possessed, as well as more primitive forms of intimidation. More than once Mankustrap had been forced to adopt the form of a snarling, bear-sized red dog with fangs the size and shape of a lion's. The five years that followed her official appointment to Clan Leader became known among Witch historians as "The Loud Period". Competition for the throne was not fully settled until her sixth year of reign , and by then, Dominique Ampria had established herself as a competent, calm, unflinching leader. Funnily enough, Mankustrap too decided upon a form, and it was one that threw off the entire Witch population: Upon the honey brown arm of the solemn Queen Ampria perched the sweetest red robin imaginable.
Some believe that Mankustrap betrays Dominique's true emotions and personality, for indeed, the delightful companion is quite the contradiction to his dark featured Witch. It is a cruel thing that such a lighthearted person is trapped in the gloomy cage of leadership, if this is the case, but Queen Ampria shows no signs of fatigue or failure. Only her nightmares are capable of putting those pained lines on her face, and one might wonder what it is that makes her dreams so horrid.
Role-play sample:
"I'm going to count to three, Tantomile."
"No!"
"One."
She tugged on his grip and Narcissticae's claws dug painfully into Coricopat's chest.
"Two."
Coricopat howled, and Tantomile struggled not to cry out in agony.
"Three."
As soon as the word left his mouth, she found herself bodily lifted from the ground, and realized with a humiliating jolt that he had actually tossed her like a heap of flower over his shoulder. Before she had time to wallow in the undignified position, however, an eruption of snarls broke out behind them, and Tantomile seized her chance. Thrashing furiously, she reached out and snapped off a sturdy branch from a passing tree, showing a surprising amount of strength. The stick rose, and she did with it, but not before a scream tore the air. It took Tantomile a few seconds to realize that it was her own, but by then, she was already in motion, and flying fast towards the North. Growls followed her, and her head pounded dizzily. Her upper back was on fire, and...was that wetness, coating her torn dress and making it stick so grossly to her skin?
Custom title: Dark Songbird
Celebrity claim: Mariska Hargitay
Previous roles you have played: Tons. Glomps of others. See Tantomile's bio if you're really super curious. Suffice to say, I'm qualified.
Code word: Muffins, right?
Other: I am NOT throwing Tantomile away. I'll play both. Just wanted to make that clear. Heh. Cause I love both characters. They're my friends.
